What is CADSAPS

  • CADSAPS is a NON Profit Organisation (NPO) which stands for
  • COMFORT
  • ASSISTANCE and
  • DISABLED CARE FUND.
  • This company has been established to serve all contributing employees of the SA Police Service in one or more of the following areas according to their specific needs.
  • This office identified a gap in assistance rendered by the SAPS to disabled employees and there after sought to assist in filling that gap and assisting where the SAPS could not render assistance to its’ employees,
  • CADSAPS does not receive any financial injections, contributions and or payments from the South African Police Services (SAPS) or any other organisation. We function solely on membership contributions, therefore any and all types of assistance rendered in based on the availability of funds.

OUR SERVICES

COMFORT CARE

To provide recreational facilities to employees who render services in remote areas where there are no commercial recreational facilities.

To provide recreational or other facilities which the Board of Directors deem appropriate to employees who have been deployed on special duties for a period of two months of more at a place other than their normal place of employment for a period of two months or more and

To provide recreational or other facilities including a token of appreciation which the Board of Directors deem appropriate to employees who have been deployed to perform duties at Border Posts during the festive season.

ASSISTANCE CARE

The purpose of the Assistance Care is to assist contributors who find themselves in financial difficulties due to circumstances beyond their control.

The type of assistance will inter alia include:

ASSISTANCE WITH FOOD :

  • To assist contributors who require Food Loans (depending on the unforeseen circumstances)
  • To assist contributors whose financial situation would warrant assistance with food donations. The amount of the donation depends on the size of the family eg. A family with one dependant child can be awarded a donation of R910,00, with two dependant children R 1820,00 etc.
  • Four food donations *per contributor* may be considered in a two year cycle.

FIXING OF VEHICLES :

  • If a contributor’s vehicle breaks down and his or her personal finances don’t permit that he attends to it, he or she may apply for assistance with an interest free loan of up to R6000,00 to have the vehicle repaired.
  • Please note that the vehicle must be their only mode of transport and no Public transport is available between the contributor’s home and workplace.
  • The required money will, if the application is approved, be transferred directly into the account of the Service Provider.

REPAIRS TO RESIDENCES DURING NATURAL DISASTERS :

RURAL AREAS

  • If the home of a contributor who lives in a rural area gets damaged during a natural disaster, he or she can apply for assistance to get the residence fixed, subject to them obtaining at least two quotations from reputable Service Providers.
  • The assistance will consist partly of a donation and the rest as an interest free loan and is subject to the availability of funds.

REPAIRS TO RESIDENCES DURING NATURAL DISASTERS :

SUBURBAN AREAS

  • If the home of a contributor who lives in a suburban area gets damaged during a natural disaster, he or she can apply for assistance for life necessities to help them with their immediate needs until the insurance come to their aid.
  • This type of assistance is limited to life necessities only.

SCHOOL EXPENSES :

A contributor may, if he or she is in need of assistance apply for an amount of maximum R3000,00 to assist with school expenses such as school fees, school stationary or school uniform. This amount must be paid in full before further assistance in this regard will be considered and is normally repayable over a 10 month period.

FUNERAL ASSISTANCE :

  • To provide recreational or other facilities including a token of appreciation which the Board of Directors deem appropriate to employees who have been deployed to perform duties at Border Posts during the festive season.

Funeral assistance only applies to immediate family members i.e.

The contributor’s wife/husband
The contributor’s children (Naturally born or legally adopted)
The contributor’s parents and parents in-law only

DISABLED CARE

To assist contributing employees of the SA Police Service which include the spouse and their dependant biological children who are still under their care with :

Assistive devices

A disabled contributing employee may apply for aid such as assistive devices in the form of hearing aids, prosthetics, maintenance of wheelchairs, adjustments to their vehicles and in some cases for adjustments to their residences with items such as bath hoists, grab rails etc.

Note :

  • Contributors apply via their Specialist to the Medical aid for the Disability type of device
  • If the application is approved and the amount is not sufficient to obtain / purchase the device, the contributors must apply for ex gratia assistance from their Medical Aid and if they need further assistance provide proof of this step in their application to CADSAPS.
  • Personnel with disabilities must also first approach the Disabled Care section of the SA Police Service for assistance before approaching CADSAPS directly for assistance.
  • When submitting the application, the two quotations must be attached to the application for assistance.

GENERAL COMMENTS

  • Every application is considered on its own merits.
  • The availability of finances is a factor which is taken into consideration when considering every application.
  • If necessary assistance in compiling an application form can be obtained from employees of the EHW environment.
  • As a contributor you might not need assistance at this stage in your life but you are requested to keep in mind that there are employees in the SA Police Service who are worse of than you financially as well as in terms of their health.
  • Your contribution can make a difference in the life of your colleague.
  • When an employee passes away, CADSAPS donates an amount of R 4000,00 to the spouse or children of such an employee.
  • The purpose of the above mentioned illustration is to indicate that the benefits that contributors get are more than the amount contributed during their years of service.
  • Should an employee not make use of any assistance, the funds will be available to assist fellow colleagues.
  • A member only qualifies for assistance after 3 consecutive deductions of the R15,00 monthly contribution.
